Rebecca Shirin Jafari (1986) is a Norwegian-Iranian visual artist and photographer, working and living in Oslo.
Based in her own experiences and background, Jafaris work focuses on belonging and identity.
Through personal narratives, she often explores the duality of growing up in two different worlds.
Jafari is also deeply engaged in immigration related topics, a theme that she keeps coming back to,
both in her projects as well as in her teaching. Her work is expressed through a wide range of media including photography, text, collage, performative story telling and socially engaed projects.
Her first book “Joonam” was published at Journal forlag in 2026. Jafari has exhibited in various galleries and museums in Norway, including Fotogalleriet, Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Bryggens museum and Interkulturelt museum.
From 2015-2017 Jafari was selected for the Norwegian Journal of Photography, a program supporting
ten independent photographers in Norway.
